El Camino Day 21 Villadangos - Astorga

Finalmente il paesaggio e' cambiato, finalmente si e' abbandonata la strada statale, la cosa che mi ha colpito di piu' dei paesaggi a parte le mille mucche sono i profumi. Non so esattamente dire cosa mi ricordino di preciso, ma in qualche modo mi hanno fatto venire in mente la Sardegna, quando ero bambina e mi svegliavo presto e questo profumo di ginepro misto a cardo misto a non so cosa mi colpiva le narici. La Galicia si presentera' con montagne da scalare, piu' ombrosa e meno piatta delle mesetas, i suoi profumi, le vacche ( nell'entroterra fino alla Galicia costiera) e le mosche. Si' perche' essendoci tante vacche ci sono anche miliardi di mosche...... Fino ad ora il paesaggio mi e' piaciuto molto, la camminata anche. Domani sara' corta solo 20 km perche' poi ci sara' la super giornata della Croce di Ferro. Partenza prestissimo per vedere l'alba.

Oggi ad Astorga: una citta' molto carina, bellissimi monumenti e poi i dolci tipici, il cioccolato dei mastri cioccolatai spagnoli, la cocida maragata ( 7 tipi di carne diversa cotti tutti insieme, forse si andra' a mangiarla stasera). Per ora e' pomeriggio, ho comeprato le scarpe nuove (sperando che vadano bene!) poi vedremo cosa faremo stasera, ma penso che il rito del pacharan non si spezzera'.

Finally the landscape has changed. Finally we left the road. The thing that really stroke me here besides the thousands of cows are the smells. I have no idea what the smells reminds me of precisely, but they just got this picture in my mind: SArdinia when I was a kid and I was waking up really early and the perfume of juniper tree and thistle mixed with something I could not even detect was invading my nostrils. Galicia will be a hard one: mountains to hike, but more shadowy and less plain than the mesetas, the smells, the cows ( at least till we reach the coast) and the tons of flies, yes coz where there are cows , there are flies......till now the new landscape has been great, the walk pleasant. Tomorrow will be short, only 20 km.coz the next day it is going to be la Cruz de Hierro. Wake up call will be super early so to go and see the sunset there.

Today in Astorga: a very nice city, full of monuments and the typical sweets and the chocolate artisans, la cocida margata ( 7 different kind of meats cooked together probably we will go and eat it tonight). NOw is late afternoon, I bought my new trekking shoes ( I hope they will work!) then we will see what we will do tonight, for sure we will not interrupt the pacharan rite!
