Sorry for disappearing..no internet on Redang Island.....here KL reportage....

KL.

una città' bella, colorata, pulita ( almeno in centro) , ma che mi ha dato sensazioni discordanti. La prima sera che sono arrivata (verso le 19) non mi sono sentita sicurissima, forse e' solo perché' non ci sono abituata. Molti uomini in giro, poche donne ( almeno a quell'ora). Poi dopo una sana dormita il giorno dopo….Ho conosciuto Paul (Irlandese) e Jennifer ( Inglese)  con loro ho passato i due gg successivi in giro per KL. Little India , Chinatown piccole città' nelle città'. Little India con i suoi colori sgargianti, il profumo d'incenso, la musica che subito ti ricorda Bollywood. Chinantown: ristoranti, il Central Market (se capitate da queste parti visitatelo la sera). La città' e' un mix di tantissime culture, molte lingue, diverse tradizioni, una città' veramente multietnica che riesce a far convivere islamismo , induismo, taoismo/Buddhismo in una strana armonia.

Nel centro della cita' c''e questo enorme Shopping Mall chiamato Times Square incredibile ma vero all'interno esiste un parco divertimento con le montagne russe!!!!! Noi tre backpackers, tutti strettamente rigorosi ad un budget minimale siamo rimasti a bocca aperta…

L'ostello in cui ho dormito e' veramente carino a misura di backpacker, pulito, economico con i proprietari estremamente gentili pronti a dare informazioni dettagliate e consigli su come e dove spendere meno. Hostel Cosmopolitan ( dormitori da 4, 6 10 persone con o senza aria condizionata, ogni letto ha il suo locker ( portatevi sempre un piccolo lucchetto quando viaggiate. 6 euro e 20 per il dormitorio da 6 con aia condizionata. Io sono stata fortunata a parte la prima notte la mia camera e' rimasta vuota. Si trova in Chow Kit vicinissimo alla stazione Chow Kit Monorail. IL caseggiato all'esterno non e' dei migliori..casermone rettangolare sporco e mal tenuto , ma all'interno ( quarto piano) una meraviglia. Tra l'altro si trova nel centro del mercato notturno più' grosso di KL ( soprattutto la domenica sera) con bancarelle che vendono di tutto e moltissimi street food restaurant. Una manna per chi viaggia in budget.

La prima sera decidiamo ovviamente di passarla nel centro della città' per fare mille foto alle Petronas tower: impressionanti. Non solo per le dimensioni , ma per i giochi di luce che sono riusciti a creare. Il tutto con neon bianchi e non, come di solito qui nel Sud est asiatico neon colorati che a volte rendono favolose architetture un sito super kitsch.

Vi lascio le foto perché' parlarne non rende l'idea.

IL secondo giorno io e Jennifer abbiamo deciso di andare alle Batu Caves, Caverne sacre per gli Hindu della città' sono un tempio. Per raggiungerle 272 scalini ( una sudata incredibile se si pensa all'umidità dato che il sito si trova a 17 KM da KL nell'entroterra vicino alle colline  e quindi alla foresta tropicale. Abbiamo assistito anche ad una cerimonia di "battesimo" per un neonato Hindu che potrebbe aver avuto non più' di una settimana.

IL tempio e' zeppo di scimmiette che non hanno paura dei turisti anzi: se hai una borsa di plastica arrivano te la rubano ti ringhiano ( ma si dice ringhiano per le scimmie?!!??!?) contro e poi fuggono da qualche parte poco lontano e sfidandoti aprono la busta e, se e' cibo, ne mangiano il contenuto. Quindi attenti alle macchine fotografiche, ai cappelli  a qualsiasi cosa che possa essere rubato!!!!! Dopo la visita alle Batu Caves decidiamo di andare ai Lake Gardens, favoloso parco nel cuore di KL dove c'e' lo zoo aviario, Il museo delle Orchidee e quella che chiamano Butterfly farm fantastico parco recintato da reti dove farfalle di ogni tipo vivono free-fly e si riproducono: un giardino tropicale tenuto benissimo dove e' possibile non solo vedere le farfalle ma anche vedere alcuni terrari (lucertole, tarantole, millepiedi giganti, scorpioni, insetti stecchino (erhmm non so il nome italiano questa e' la traduzione libera dall'Inglese) e poi scarabei rinoceronte e chi più' ne ha più' meta. Tutti insetti che vivono nelle foreste Malesi. "Az i ragni sono più' grossi della mia manooooooooo! Un posto magico dove puoi fotografare farfalle coloratissime e osservare insetti di cui neppure sapevo l'esistenza….

Abbiamo camminato parecchio, ma ne e' valsa la pena. 

Questi 2 gg in una grande città' mi hanno rigenerato: buon cibo, un po' di cultura, l'acclimatarsi ad un posto nuovo, incontrare altre mille persone che, come me, hanno deciso di mollare tutto e  patire per un viaggio lungo ( per ora vince un ragazzo Inglese in giro da tre anni……). E' bello vedere che esistono ancora persone curiose, che riescono a vivere con poco. Sembra incredibile, ma da quando sono partita non ho trovato ancora un solo BACKPACKER Italiano….mi sa che e' vero quel che si dice…siamo proprio figli di mamma'!

KL. a clean and colorful city (at least in the centre) that gave me opposite feelings. The night of my arrival ( around 19) I didn't feel very safe, probably just coz I am not use to it…many men on the streets , very few women and of course many men staring at you. A good night sleep and then in the morning in the kitchen for breakfast ( free!) I met Paul ( Irish) and Jennifer (English) with whom I have decided to spent the next 2 days wandering around KL. Little India, Chinatown, city within the city. LIttle India with her smells and colours and Bollywood loud music, Chinatown chaotic full of restaurant and , of course the Central Market ( visit it in the evening). The city is an amazing mix of different cultures, languages, religions and traditions it is amazing how multiethnic is the place and all of them lived together respecting the other. Muslims, taoist/Buddhists, HIndu a strange harmony.

We decided to go around the centre even more and found this amazing Shopping Mall called Times Square where inside you can find an amusement park with real roller coaster!!!! For the three of us , budget back packers was astonishing!

The Hostel I have been living in was fantastic: clean, cheep, good location and the owners are so kind and helpful that is almost unbelievable. Hostel Cosmopolitan. Dorms can be for 4, 6 10 people with or without zircon. MIne was 6 euro and 20 with zircon. Each bed has its own locker where to store luggage and precious (when You travel always carry a little locker). I have been lucky my 6 bed dorm besides the first night it was all for me! It is situated in Chow  Kit very close to the monorail. The building itself from the outside is quite dirty and horrible (btw look up in order to find the sign!), but inside it was simply perfect. It is in the middle of the night market ( it is the biggest one on Sundays) You can find everything there especially yummy street food! Basically the Paradise for a back packer if you do not want to use the kitchen in the hostel!

First night we decided  to go the sea the Petronas tower so to snap a few pics ( a must-do!): breathtaking. Not only they are massive , but the light shades are perfect. Finally an architecture building without bright colour neon lights ( quite common here in South East Asia).

Second day me and Jennifer decided to go and visit Batu Caves sacred to the Hindu to arrive there there are 272 steps to go..never sweat so much in my lief, the caves are 17 km from KL close to the hills and the rainforest….. Over there  are living little monkeys that steal everything they can. They love plastic bag, they steal them , they bark ( are monkey barking?!?!I mean …how do you call  their sounds?!?!?) at you and then run not so far away tear apart the pastil bag and eat ( if it is food) what there is onside. So watch out cameras, hats, plastic bags coz they steal everything!!

After Batu Caves we decided to go to the Lake Gardens beautiful park in the middle of KL where there is the Bird museum, the Orchid museum and the BUtterfly farm. We vote for the Butterfly Farm an amazing little park with nets all around where butterly are free flying and they breed. INside the park you can find insects and turtles as well huge huge spiders, giant millepids, any kings of strange beetles, stick insect all of them living in the Malaysian rainforest….so many colours so many pictures taken. We walk for hours , but it has worth it.

These 2 days in a big city really did good to me. Good food, culture, getting use to a new Country and then meeting so many people that, like me, decided to quit everything and just started to travel ( at this point the winner is an English guy that has been going around for the past 3 years)..it is wonderful seeing that there are so many curious people in the world that can live with so little.

I have been traveling since a month dn I have not cross path with a single Italian backpacker……I guess it is true what people are saying……we are "figli di mamma" ( mum-addicts)!
